Family genealogy is an auxiliary branch of history aiming at establishing filiation, the research of ancestors and descendants.

Ascendance from son to parent over several generations (4, 5, 6, 7, 8… or until there are no more records) with or without collaterals.

All direct ascendants (male and female) over several generations (4, 5, 6, 7, 8, … or until there are no more records.
Cousinhood
All the descendants of a defined ancestor also called cousinship.
Ancestry or descendant research reports include:
- all the birth or baptism, marriage and death or burial records, as well as the name of the source where they were found.
- a genealogical description for each couple.
- a tree of ancestry or descent.
- iconography (if available).
